Pumlani Gqaleni

(MSc. Agric UKZN; BSc. Animal & Poultry Sci. UKZN; PDip Business Mngt NWU)
Mr Gqaleni has commercial work experience of over 9 years in the field of agriculture and research on socio-economic matters. He has led teams in both the public (DOA, ECRDC, ORTDM & SEDA) and the private sector (Astral entities) assignments. In the normal course business he engages with a wide range of industry players, including growers, traders, manufacturers, distributors and exporters, and is well placed to understand the opportunities and barriers to SME growth in the agriculture sector. He also seeks to access support for development of the business from public entities, and has developed formal agreements to work with academic institutions. Pumlani was part of the Zero Hunger research team at University of KwaZulu-Natal from 2012-2014, the project aimed at reducing incidences of food insecurity through improving capabilities of all South Africans to access nutritious food. Mr Gqaleni is the the current Managing Director at Ingcali Agricultural Solutions, an agricultural consulting company based in the Eastern Cape he founded 2016.
